OnlyDisk was invented in 1999 by the founders of Netac Technology Co., Ltd (Mr. Deng Guoshun, "Father of USB disks" and Mr. Cheng Xiaohua). The patent is protected in China and USA (US patent 6,829,672 from 7/Dec/2004, see http://portal.uspto.gov) with other countries pending.  After suing Sony for violating its patent in Chinese court in Oct 2004, Netac filed allegations against PNY in Texas, USA on 10/Feb/2006 under American patent laws. Netac demanded that PNY immediately cease the infringement and compensate Netac for substantial financial damages. In November 2006, Netac and Sony settled the case out of court. Sony agreed to purchase USB disk technology from Netac after the settlement. In November 2006, Netac announced the patent in Korea was granted under Korea patent number 583626 for 20 years.
