Nature Autumn Evening in the Mountains (by Wang Wei) The fresh rain in the hollow mountains, Brings the coolness in the evening. The bright moon illuminates in the pine trees, The verdant brooks flow on the stones. The washer-girls whisper from the bamboo forest, The fish boat sails among the lotuses. Leave alone the fragrance in spring, I myself want to stay here forever. Grassland (by Bai Ju-yi) Luxuriant is the grass on the prairie, Every year it withers and grows. Wild fire can not burn it out, Spring wind blows it back to life. Remote greenness penetrates the ancient road, Sun-shone grass connects deserted towns. Farewell to my young friend again, The grassland is full of affection. Mount Tai (by Du Fu) How lofty is Mount Tai? Its green splendour extends far away. The nature endows it with mystery and beauty, Its two sides divide it into dawn and dusk. The misty clouds surge towards my breast, The returning birds fly out of my eyesight. One day I shall climb up the zenith, To look down lower mountains. Night Mooring at Maple Bridge (by Zhang Ji) The craws caw when the moon goes down, the frost seems to have filled the air, I am sleepless in the boat with the maple trees and fishing lights. From the Cold Hill Temple outside Su Zhou, The sound of bells spreads into my guest boat. Rain In Spring Night (by Du Fu) Clever rain knows the exact season, It only drops at the right time of spring. It creeps into night with wind And moistens the land gently and quietly. The remote road is dark with clouds, The riverboats are bright with lamps. I wake up to watch the red and wet places, And find the flowers have all blossomed in Chengdu. Secluded House (by Jia Dao) He stays in a house without neighbours, The grass path leads to the deserted garden. The birds are sleeping on the tree near the pool, A monk knocks the door under the moon. Over the bridge, there is colourful wildness, The clouds are moving like mountain stones. I shall return after my short leave, And I shall not fail to your expectation. Snow On River (by Liu Zong-yuan) No flying bird in the mountains. No footprint on the paths. Only an old boat man with his straw cloak, Fishing lonely in the cold river snow. Spring Dawn (Meng Hao-ran 689-740) Sleeping in spring I always miss the dawn, When birds are heard singing everywhere. With the sound of wind and rain last night, How many flower petals have fallen? Spring In South (by Du Mu) The warblers are crowing in the flower trees hundred miles away, The wine flags, in the waterside villages and hillside towns, are fluttering in the wind. Four hundred and eighty ancient temples Are in the smoky rain with many pavilions. Stork Tower (by Wang Zhi-huan) White sun sets along the hills, Yellow River flows into the sea. If you want to see hundred miles farther, You have to climb up one more floor. Temple (by Chang Jian) I entered the temple in the morning, When the rising sun was shining over the forest. The path in the bamboo led to the secluded place, The monk's hut was sheltered in the flower trees. The light in the mountain delighted the birds, The shadow in the pool purified my soul. The silence reigned supreme here, There left only the sound of stone chimes. The Moon Goddess (by Li Shang-yin) The candles shadow deeply on the mica screen, The morning stars set slowly to the long river. The Moon Goddess should have regretted for stealing the elixir, Now she broods every night from the sky above the sea. The Road to Sichuan (by Li Bai) Alas! How steep and high! The road to Sichuan is hard, harder than to the sky! Two ancient kings of this region, Opened up this land in the old ages. Only after forty-eight thousand years, People started to commute beyond the frontier of Qin. In the west lies the bird's path of Mount White,  Connecting to the peaks of Mount Emei. After earth exploded, mountains crumbled, and warriors died, Interlocked the sky ladders and the stone bridges. Above there are six dragons curling around the sun, Below there is the river lashing its twisted course. Yellow cranes cannot even fly across, While gibbons in despair give up climbing. How the Mount Clay twists! One hundred steps with nine turns wind around the cliffs. You can even touch the stars in the sky when you rest breathless, I sat down and stroked my breast with a deep sigh. When do you expect to return from travelling west, With the roads harder and the cliffs steeper? I saw the dismal birds howling in ancient woods, With males and females flying between the trees. I also heard the melancholy cuckoos crowing, Under the moonlight in the hollow mountains. The road to Sichuan is hard, harder than to the sky! Just hearing this our cheeks would turn pale. Endless peaks are only a foot away from the sky, Where withered pines hang inverted from sheer cliffs. Flying cataracts and roaring torrents compete with clamours, Dashing upon rocks and surging among gorges with sound of thunders. With all these risks,  Why should any traveller still come from far away? The Dagger Peak is lofty and steep, With one man guarding the pass, Ten thousand people can't move advance. Should those on guard be not loyal, They could have turned into leopards and wolves. They should keep away from ferocious tigers in the morning, And run away from ruthless snakes in the evening. Or even gnash their fangs to suck the human blood, And maul people like flies. The Brocade City might be a place of pleasure, It's far better to hurry back home. The road to Sichuan is hard, harder than to the sky, I turned around and looked westward with a long deep sigh. The Three Gorges (by Li Bai)  Leaving White Emperor City in the morning with colourful clouds, I was back to River Mound hundred miles away in just one day. While the monkeys kept howling on both sides of the river, The light sailboat already flung past thousand mountains Walking in the Mountain (by Du Mu) I walked on the winding paths of the cold mountain, There were some houses at the places of clouds. I stopped my cart at the sight of the maple trees, Their frosty leaves looked redder than the February flowers. Waterfall in Mount Lu (by Li Bai) The sunshine on the peaks lights purple smokes, I look into distance the waterfall hanging from the front cliff. The flying water flows from three thousand feet above, I wonder if the Milky Way has fallen from heaven. West Lake in Spring (by Bai Ju-yi) To the north of Lonely Hill, and the west of Merchant Pavilion, The water surface is smooth, and the clouds are low. Some early warblers content for warmer trees, And new swallows are pecking the spring mud? The growing flowers almost confuse the eyes of tourists, The shallow grasses only cover the hoofs of horses. I like it best to walk in the eastern side of the lake, On the white-sand dikes under the shadow of green willows. West Ravine (by Wei Ying-wu) I enjoy the green grass near the ravine, With the yellow orioles crowing on the trees. The spring tides rise rapidly with the rain, There floats an empty boat in the wild harbour. Wind (by Li Qiao) It blows off the leaves in autumn, And speeds the blossom in spring. It surges high waves over the river, And tilts the poles in the bamboo forest. Yellow Crane Tower (by Cui Hao)  The ancient god has gone on the back of the yellow crane, Nothing is left here but the Yellow Crane Tower.  The yellow crane never returns since its departure, Only the white clouds have drifted for thousand years. The trees in Wuhan are clear to see by the sunny water, The Parrot Islet is abundant with green grasses. Where is my hometown at the time of sunset?  I feel so moody over the waves of misty river.
